About us
Behind Restaurant By Taste are Romana Ritzen and Bart Pluymaekers. On 1 May 2024, we started a new concept at a location that is already very familiar to us. Since 2018, we had been running Restaurant Bie de Tantes here. Although this was a successful period, it also came with an intensive work rhythm. Partly due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the limited time during which we were able to operate at full capacity, we decided to take a new direction.
With Restaurant By Taste, we consciously focus on fine dining. This choice comes from our ambition to combine a high culinary level with a healthy balance between work and private life, while leaving room for personal development, inspiration and quality of life. Personal events, including a loss within our family, further shaped our vision. They made us realise that entrepreneurship is not only about continuously striving for the best, but also about making conscious choices about how you spend your time and energy.
Within our team, everyone has their own role.
Romana Ritzen is our hostess and the face of the restaurant.
Bart Pluymaekers is Chef de Cuisine and responsible for the kitchen.
Art Püllmans is a certified wine expert and responsible for the wine selection and drink pairings.
Our shared goal as a team is to make every guest feel truly welcome and at home. We want to create a place where guests can relax, feel comfortable and enjoy themselves without any barriers. This sense of familiarity and comfort is exactly what makes guests want to return and experience Restaurant By Taste as a trusted destination for a special experience.
In the kitchen, Bart brings a unique background to the table. Without a traditional culinary education or experience working alongside renowned chefs, he has developed his skills entirely on his own. His style is versatile, ranging from classic French cuisine to influences from cuisines around the world. He is guided by flavour, the seasons and creativity, constantly experimenting and refining his dishes.
We work with local products whenever possible and draw inspiration from what our immediate surroundings have to offer when developing new menus. This applies not only to our dishes, but also to our non-alcoholic pairing.
For our wine pairing, we also strive to select wines from the region whenever possible, creating a harmonious connection between flavour and origin. Passion, craftsmanship and attention to detail form the foundation of everything we do. Our story comes straight from the heart.
